1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Manufacturer's descriptive literature for
each product specified in this section.
NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if specifying colors
in this section.
C. Selection Samples: Two sets of color chips representing
manufacturer's full range of available colors; indicate
available colors for each product specified in this
section.
D. Verification Samples: Two samples, minimum size 6 inches
(150 mm) square, or 12 inches (300 mm) long for linear
products, representing actual color and finish of each
product to be installed.
E. Manufacturer's Instructions:
1. Printed installation instructions for each product,
including product storage requirements and substrate
requirements.
2. Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheets (M.S.D.S.).
1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

until installation.

retain matching materials for attic stock; add

1.7 MAINTENANCE
A. Extra Materials: Supply a quantity of uncut resilient
wall base pieces equal to 10 percent of quantity
installed, or 100 linear feet, whichever is greater, for
each color of base installed.

A. Rubber Wall Base: Nitrile rubber alloy composition;
complying with FS SS-W-40a, Type I, Rubber, fire
resistance rating Class 1/Class A in accordance with ASTM
E 648.

specify base type.
1. Type: Top-set cove base, with 1/2 inch (12 mm) toe
extending from wall.
2. Type: Top-set toeless straight base.

2.3 STAIR ACCESSORIES
A. Rubber Stair Treads: Nitrile rubber alloy composition;
complying with FS RR-T-650d, Composition A, Type II
Rubber; fire resistance rating Class 1/Class A in
accordance with ASTM E 648, Class B in accordance with
ASTM E 84, smoke development 450, maximum, in accordance
with ASTM E 662 and NFPA 258, static coefficient of
friction exceeding ADA recommendations when tested in
accordance with ASTM D 2047.

specify tread type.
1. Type: Maxxi-Tread design, with contrasting color
polyurethane cleats, tread depth 13 inches (330 mm),
2 inch (50 mm) deep square nose; material thickness

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); provide the
following moldings and molding assemblies in
accordance with manufacturer's recommendations for
indicated project conditions:
a. 150 Tile-Carpet Joiner: One-piece molding; for
joining 1/4 inch (6 mm) carpet to 1/8 inch (3 mm)
resilient materials.
b. 153 Cerco Bar: One-piece molding for joining
5/16 inch (8 mm) carpet to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm)
materials.
c. 710 Carpet to Resilient Transition: Overlapping
reducer for joining 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) glue-down
carpet to 1/8 inch (3 mm) resilient materials.
d. 360 Cerco T: Snap-in tee molding with 1/2 inch
(12 mm) leg, for joining 1/2 inch (12 mm)
material; provide track for molding as follows:
1) 970 Single Flange Vinyl Track.
2) 980 Pinless Metal Track.
3) 990 Metal Track with Pins.
e. 365 Cerco Edge T: Snap-in tee molding with 1/2
inch (12 mm) leg, for joining 1/2 inch (12 mm)
material to lesser-gage materials; provide track

for 9/32 inch (7 mm) carpet, with 2-1/2 inch (63
mm) long transition; for heavy traffic areas.
d. 200 Royal Commercial Reducer: Edge reducer with
5/16 inch (8 mm) undercut for use with tackless
or double-stick carpet installations; for heavy
traffic areas.
e. 400 Custom Edge: Bevel-edged reducer with deep
undercut for 5/16 inch (8 mm) carpet.
f. 633 Tile Reducer: Bevel edge for 1/8 inch (3 mm)

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that substrates to receive products of this
section are in accordance with requirements specified in
manufacturer's instructions.
B. Installer's Examination:
1. Have installer of this section examine conditions
under which construction activities of this section
are to be performed, then submit written notification
if such conditions are unacceptable.
2. Transmit two copies of installer's report to
Architect within 24 hours of receipt.
3. Beginning construction activities of this section
before unacceptable conditions have been corrected is
prohibited.
4. Beginning construction activities of this section
indicates installer's acceptance of conditions.
NOTE ** Edit this Article, retaining paragraphs specifying
installation of products previously specified.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install products specified in this section in accordance
with manufacturer's installation instructions.
B. Install wall-mounted products level, within tolerance of
1/4 inch in 10 feet (1:480).
C. Resilient Wall Base:
NOTE ** Retain one of the following three sub-paragraphs to
specify corner treatment.
1. Form outside corners from a single piece length,
minimum leg length 18 inches (450 mm) each way,
except where continuous run length is less than 18
inches (450 mm).
2. Install factory-molded corner units at outside
corners.
3. Install factory-molded corner units at inside and
outside corners.
4. Install maximum number of piece lengths in each
continuous run, with the limitation that cut lengths
of less than 18 inches (450 mm) at ends of run are
not permitted except where continuous run length is
less than 18 inches (450 mm).
5. Where continuous run length is single piece length or
less, install single piece length only.
D. Stair Edging Products: Except where indicated otherwise,
install in single piece lengths only; end-to-end butt
joints are not permitted.
E. Stair Landing Tile:
1. Except where indicated otherwise, install in grid
pattern parallel and perpendicular to walls.
2. Install maximum number of full tiles possible,
centered on landing footprint, with the limitation
that cut tiles of less than 1/2 full tile size each
way are not permitted.
F. Floor-Mounted Moldings: Subject to manufacturing
limitations, install in single piece lengths only; obtain
Architect's instructions for placing end-to-end butt
joints when such manufacturing limitations prohibit
single piece length installation.
G. Wall-Mounted Moldings:
1. Install maximum number of piece lengths in each
continuous run, with the limitation that cut lengths
of less than 18 inches (450 mm) at ends of run are
not permitted except where continuous run length is
less than 18 inches (450 mm).
2. Where continuous run length is single piece length or
less, install single piece length only.
H. Adhesives: Ensure that adhesives do not migrate to
exposed surfaces.
3.3 CLEANING
A. Clean surfaces of products of this section as
installation progresses; do not allow soil, adhesives, or
other materials detrimental to appearance of products to
remain.
3.4 PROTECTION OF INSTALLED PRODUCTS
A. Protect products of this section from damage by
subsequent construction activities until Substantial
Completion.
B. Replace damaged products to Architect's acceptance.
